Fig. 8.5. This clamp rests on the work or fixture at one end and on the table or a bit of
packing at the other end.
Sometimes you will want to stop the clamp from dropping onto the table
when you release it; perhaps you have to spin the clamp at 90 degrees to free
the work. Either put a nut and a washer on the studding below the clamp or
use a spring and a washer to support the clamp. Make sure the washer is free
when you tighten up the clamp.
CLAMPING ROUND SHAPES
Hollow components
Hollow components must be supported when clamping them otherwise you
may crush them. You could put a bit of round or square bar into a tube to stop
it from squashing.
