Angular machining
You can get vices that tip up on an angle so you can do angular machining
withoutdisturbingthealignmentofthemill'shead.Thesevicesareveryuseful
for milling the edges of dovetail slides, for example.
The main tilting vice usually available is basically a small vice with a pivot
at one end and a couple of sheet metal clamps at the other end to support
the vice on an angle. The other type has a radius machined on the base to
match another radius machined on the vice. This radius enables the vice to
tilt vertically. This type of vice is more rigid than the pivoting type, but it is also
more expensive. Either type of tilting vice will do for light work.
