Edge finding from the vice jaw and parallels
Using an edge finder or wobbler, it is very easy to find the edge or centre of
a workpiece. However, you cannot always find the edge of a job, for instance
because the job is lower than the vice jaws. In this case, there are two ways
to find the edge:
One is to temporarily put the workpiece in the vice higher than normal. The
work-piece does not have to be flat in the vice; as long as it presents a flat
face to the wobbler it can even be held on an angle in the vice.
Another method is to put a parallel into the vice and use the edge finder on
that. Either method will do what we require.
