The digital/electronic edge finder
(This is used without power rotation.) This type of edge finder usually consists
of a steel tube with a battery inside and a cylindrical end. You bring the edge
finder up against the edge of the work so the end touches the work and com-
pletes an electric circuit through the work, the vice, the frame of the machine,
through the spindle into the top of the edge finder. Because of this need for
conductivity, the digital/electronic edge finder is not suitable for non-metallic
objects such as plastics.
