Shell mills
Shell mills are not very common nowadays but you can pick them up second-
hand. Shell mills are like very large multi-fluted end mills and are usually
mounted on a separate shank. They are ideal for facing off large bars or cast-
ings.
CORNER ROUNDING CUTTERS
Corner rounding cutters, as their name indicates, are used to round the
corner of a block of metal or similar. They usually have four straight flutes
with a ready-ground radius on them. They are easy to set: lower the bottom
of the cutter to the top of the work, then raise the cutter by the radius you
are milling. To use, wind the cutter diameter to the side of the work and move
over by the radius; then when you run the cutter along the work, you will ma-
chine a radius all along the edge of the work.
