JIMI HENDRIX PARK PARK
( www.jimihendrixparkfoundation.org ; 2400 S Massachusetts St; 60 from Capitol Hill) Dedic-
ated to Hendrix in 2006, the park abuts the Northwest African American Museum just
north of the Beacon Hill neighborhood. At the time of research, it was just a grassy ex-
panse, but ambitious development plans have been approved. Proposals include rain
drums, a butterfly garden and a performance area.
MOUNT ZION BAPTIST CHURCH CHURCH

( 206-322-6500; 1634 19th Ave, at E Madison St; 11) One of the cornerstones of this
neighborhood is Mount Zion Baptist Church, a 2000-member congregation with a choir
that has reached national acclaim through its gospel recordings. The church is over a
century old.
Madrona
COLMAN PARK PARK
( 27) Head south along Lake Washington Blvd E through the very upscale Madrona
Park neighborhood and you'll end up at Colman Park. The entire lakefront stretch
between here and Seward Park is parkland. This is an especially good area for bike rid-
ing. On the weekends the boulevard is closed to cars.
