Architecture
The building was designed by renowned Canadian architect Frank Gehry, a strong pro-
ponent of deconstructivism. Gehry supposedly used one of Hendrix's smashed-up gui-
tars as his inspiration.
Main Exhibits
The main exhibits are anchored by
If VI Was IX
, a tower of 700 instruments designed
by German-born artist Trimpin. Many of the permanent exhibits center on Hendrix, in-
cluding the Fender Stratocaster guitar that he played at Woodstock in 1969. Dominating
proceedings is the
Sky Church
, a huge screen displaying musical and sci-fi films.
Sound Lab
On the 3rd floor is the interactive
Sound Lab
, where you can lay down vocal tracks,
play instruments, fiddle with effects pedals and - best of all - jam in a mini studio.
On
Stage
is an opportunity to belt out numbers under stage lights with a virtual audience.
