BigQuery Integration in Apps Script Is
Experimental
Here's a caveat: The BigQuery Apps Script integration (like the Apps
Script integration with several other Google APIs) is still marked
experimental. This means that things can change without much notice.
In the past year this has happened only once, but it can be frustrating
when a script that worked yesterday stops working today.
Both the BigQuery and the Apps Script teams work hard to prevent
breaking changes, and the rate of change will likely go down over time.
The good part is that many things will likely get better. For example, a
lot of steps are needed to start using BigQuery in an Apps Script; this
will almost certainly get easier over time.
Enabling Apps Script in Google Drive
The first step toward running Apps Script is turning it on in Google Drive.
This can be done from https://drive.google.com by clicking the big,
red CREATE button and then selecting Connect More Apps, as shown in
Figure 12.1 . A window displays enabling you to select which apps you want
to connect to Drive. The Google Apps Script option will likely be displayed
on the first page of apps, but if it is not, you can search for it in the top-right
corner of the dialog box. Select Google Apps Script, and click the green
button to connect your account.
