In addition, a similar NMR pattern was also observed in NaOD/

O solvent (Fig. 7.5). The original PTHF was insoluble in NaOD/

O, and no peak owing to PTHF appeared in the
H NMR spectrum

of the suspension of PTHF in NaOD/D
O. The PTHF in the product
was probably solubilized in the alkaline solution by its inclusion
in the cavity of amylose. These XRD and NMR data supported the
conclusion that the helical inclusion complexes were synthesized.
