Both the MC and FD versions had more plants with anthocyanin, more
rounded leaves and both were earlier to bolt and fl ower than the origi-
nal version. It is interesting to note that when both MC and FD versions
showed differences, it was always in the same direction.
'Monarch Long Standing' changed for the petiole length and two bolt-
ing indexes (the AVO version was later than the original version). The MC
version of 'Supergreen' had narrower and more erect leaves than the origi-
nal version. It was also earlier for two development indexes. 'Verbeterde
Hollandia' showed modifi cations for two color parameters (A and B) and for
one fl owering index (the MC version was earlier than the original version).

The photos show the two versions of variety 'Verbeterde Hollandia', which
showed very few phenotypic changes and the two versions of variety 'Alwaro' which
showed several significant phenotypic changes over the two years of on-farm cultivation.
