The best location is on the windward side of the building.

Intakes should be located in the lower third of the wall, with the
bottom of the intake approximately 2 feet above grade. (For indus-
trial applications, hospitals, and research facilities, where hazardous
exhaust discharge is required, special care must be taken to ensure
that re-entry of pollutants does not take place.)

Outside air intakes must be separated from any potential pollutant
source in accordance with Table 4-9.

Object
Filters are applied in air-handling systems to remove particulate
contaminants and pollutants such as dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, smoke,
and etc. from the air. ASHRAE Standard 52.2-2007 defines the method-
ology of rating and applying filters in HVAC systems by establishing
minimumeficiencyratingvalues(MERV)
for filters and a test method for
determining the MERV. Table 4-10 summarizes the application guidelines
for each type of filter and establishes a range of recommended MERVs.
This table can be used to select air cleaner performance required for most
HVAC applications.
