Nova Scotia
Cultural Mishmash
Tartan shops, French-speaking villages and aboriginal communities are all within kilo-
meters of each other. Throw in some African Nova Scotians and Pier 21, Canada's entry
point for more than a million immigrants, and you have the definition of a cultural melt-
ing pot.
Coves, Cliffs & Tides
Coastal coves between evergreen islets are bird and marine-mammal habitats that beg
you to go paddling. On the Fundy Coast the highest tides in the world constantly change
the landscape. Cape Breton Island's coastal cliffs are home to moose and nesting bald
eagles.
