Getting There & Away
The Marine Atlantic Ferry ( 800-341-7981; www.marine-atlantic.ca ) connects Port aux
Basques with North Sydney in Nova Scotia (adult/child/car $42/20/110). It operates year-
round, typically with two sailings daily during winter and three or four sailings between
mid-June and mid-September. Crossings take about six hours. The ferry terminal has no
ATMs or car rentals.
DRL ( 709-263-2171; www.drl-lr.com ) has its stop at the ferry terminal. Buses leave at
8am for Corner Brook ($42, 3½ hours) and St John's ($123, 13½ hours); cash only.
