Chinched is St John's first real foodie restaurant, the kind that offers mega-quality
dishes but without the white-tablecloth pretense. So belly up in the warm, dark-wood
room for octopus tacos or Newfoundland wild mushroom risotto. The meaty menu
changes regularly. The young chefs' creativity extends to the singular desserts (say, wild
nettle ice cream) and spirits (partridgeberry vodka) made in-house.
If you don't want to commit to a full meal, the bar menu lets you sample dishes for $6
to $7.
