way hike of 3.7km to the park's tallest falls. In summer, rangers lead a variety of family-
friendly educational programs, including night hikes.
Skiing
In the winter, 25km of park trails are groomed for fantastic cross-country skiing, with ad-
ditional snowshoeing tracks through the forest.
Swimming
The ocean is pretty bracing here; luckily, there's a heated saltwater swimming pool
(adult/child $3/1.50;
11am-6:30pm Jul & Aug) not far from the park's southern entrance.
Sleeping
The park has three campgrounds and 13 wilderness sites. Camping reservations (
877-737-3783; www.pccamping.ca ) must be made at least three days in advance. The park
entry fee is extra and is paid upon arrival.
With bathhouses and showers, Chignecto North (campsites/RV sites $26/36) is a good
pick for families. The 131-site Headquarters Campground (campsites/RV sites $26/37) is
near the visitors center. It's the only area open for winter camping. Along the coast, 8km
southwest of the visitors center, is Point Wolfe Campground (campsites $26) and its 181
sites with sea breezes and cooler temperatures. To reserve a backcountry site ($10), call
either of the visitors centers.
