When the fog is in the tall ships, piers and harbor take on the air of an eerie
pirate-movie set. A foghorn blows and you can almost imagine the cold,
dingy scene of yesteryear. Then the sun comes out and everything turns festive:
street buskers, laughter peeling from outdoor pub seating and kids with ice-
cream cones fill the waterfront while container ships and sailboats chug across
the sparkling bay. Hop on the Dartmouth ferry to get a view back to shore of Hali-
