Bras d'Or Lake & Around
The highlands meet the lowlands along the shores of this inland saltwater sea, where
eagles nest and puffins play. At 1099 sq km, it's the biggest lake in Nova Scotia and all
but cleaves Cape Breton Island in two.
Baddeck
An old resort town in a pastoral setting, Baddeck is on the north shore of Bras d'Or Lake,
halfway between Sydney and the Canso Causeway. It's the most popular place to stay for
those who intend to do the Cabot Trail as a one-day scenic drive.
