Getting There & Away
AIR
Most air services in Nova Scotia go to/from Halifax and there are multiple daily flights
to Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
BUS
The only province-wide (and beyond) bus company is Maritime Bus
( www.maritimebus.com ), which services the main highways from Kentville to Halifax
and up to Truro. From Truro the routes fork: towards North Sydney in one direction and
towards Amherst and onto New Brunswick in the other.
Private shuttle buses compete with the major bus companies. Shuttles usually pick you
up and drop you off from your hotel; with fewer stops, they travel faster, but the trade-off
is a more cramped ride. They also tend to go out of business or change names frequently,
so check online or ask around. Some of the more reliable companies include the follow-
ing:
Cloud Nine Shuttle ( 902-742-3992, 888-805-3335; www.thecloudnineshuttle.com ) Does the
Yarmouth-Halifax route ($75, 3½ hours), stopping along the South Shore; airport pickup
or drop-off is an extra $5.
Kathleen's Shuttle & Tours ( 903-834-2024; www.digbytoursandshuttle.webs.com ) Halifax
airport to Digby and Annapolis areas for around $65.
PEI Express Shuttle ( 902-462-8177, 877-877-1771; www.peishuttle.com ) Goes to Charlot-
tetown (PEI; $69), with early morning pickups.
TRAIN
One of the few examples of monumental Canadian train station architecture left in the
Maritimes is found at 1161 Hollis St. Options with VIA Rail ( www.viarail.ca ) include
overnight service to Montréal (21 hours, daily except Tuesdays).
