As(V) and P (Zhao and Stanforth, 2001; Pigna, Krishnamurti, and Violante,
2006; Jia et al., 2006). The development of surface precipitate is a slow pro-
cess involving multiple reaction steps and explains in part the slow As(V)
and P retention kinetics. The theory of surface precipitation suggests that
