FLORIDA IN…
One Week
Start in Miami and plan on spending three full days exploring museums and galler-
ies, the art-deco district, Little Havana and the South Beach scene. Take a day to
hike and kayak the Everglades , and don't miss Coral Castle . Then spend three
days in the Keys: snorkel at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park , go tarpon
fishing in Islamorada and let yourself get loose in Key West .
Two Weeks
Spend one or two days at the theme parks of Orlando , then scoot over to Tampa
for fine cuisine and Ybor City nightlife. Get surreal in St Petersburg at the Salvador
Dalí Museum , and visit a few Tampa Bay Area beaches . Finally, save a couple of
days for Sarasota , with its jaw-dropping Ringling Museum Complex and the
dreamy sands of Siesta Key .
Downtown Miami
Downtown isn't a tourist magnet, but it is home to a couple of worthwhile museums.
Look for the brand new Pérez Art Museum Miami (MAM; www.miamiartmuseum.org ) ,
formerly Miami Art Museum, at its new location in Bicentennial Park .
