) Edgar Degas, the famed French Impressionist, lived in this 1852 Italianate house in
Treme when visiting his mother's family in the early 1870s. Arty rooms recall the paint-
er's stay with reproductions of his work and period furnishings. The suites have bal-
conies and fireplaces, while the less-expensive garret rooms are the cramped top-floor
quarters that once offered resident artists some much-need respite.

antly above shady strands of palm on St Charles Ave in New Orleans' Uptown area,
the Latter Memorial Library was once a private mansion residence. Now it's a
lovely library with a great children's section.
