The Central Park of Savannah is a sprawling rectangular green space called
Forsyth
Park
. The park's beautiful fountain is a quintessential photo op. Savannah's
riverfront
is
mostly populated with forgettable shops and cafes. But it's worth a short stroll. As is
Jones Street
, among Savannah's prettiest thanks to the mossy oaks that hold hands from
either side.
A $20 multi-venue ticket gets you into the Jepson Center for the Arts, Telfair
Academy and the Owen-Thomas House.

A short drive from downtown, on the beautiful
Isle of Hope
, this is one
of the most photographed sites in town. The real draw is the dreamy entrance through a
corridor of mossy, ancient oaks that runs for 1.5 miles, known as the
Avenue of the
Oaks
.
But there are other draws, including an existing antebellum mansion still lived in by
the descendants of the original owner, Noble Jones, some old colonial ruins, and a
touristy site where you can see folks demonstrate blacksmithing and other bygone trades.
There are two flat, wooded walking trails here too. The one-miler takes in the main
sights. A 3-mile trail extends to the plantation boundary.
