your play on your laptop (or procrastinate with the free wi-fi), check out the cute nerds at
the other tables and reach caffeinated nirvana at this very hip indie cafe. Croissants and
cookies add to the buzz.

There are a fair few oyster bars in Washington (slurping raw boys is good for polit-
ical puffery, apparently) and Hank's is our favorite of the bunch. It's got the right
testosterone combination, a bit of power-player muscle mixed with good-old-boy ambi-
ance, which isn't to say women won't love it here; just that guys really do. Needless to
say, the oyster menu is extensive and excellent; there are always at least four varieties on
hand. Quarters are cramped, and you often have to wait for a table - nothing a saki oyster
bomb won't fix.

While 'fusion' may be an overused adjective when it
comes to describing restaurants, the best kitchens always fuse. Innovation and tradition,
regional and international influences, comfort and class. Eve contains everything we
have described, a combination of great American ingredients, precise French technique
and some of the highest levels of service we've encountered in the area. Splurge here on
the tasting menus, which are simply on another level of gastronomic experience. This is
one of the few vegan-friendly high-end restaurants in the DC metro area; just be sure to
call a day ahead and chef-owner Cathal Armstrong's team will be happy to accommodate
you.
