BUS
In addition to Greyhound, there are numerous cheap bus services to New York, Philad-
elphia and Richmond. Most charge around $20 for a one-way trip to NYC (it takes four
to five hours). Pick-up locations are scattered around town, but are always Metro-access-
ible. Tickets usually need to be bought online, but can also be purchased on the bus itself
if there are still seats available.

leaves from the upper level of Union Station.
DC2NY (

vice. The terminal is a few blocks north of Union Station; take a cab after dark.

Peter Pan Bus Lines ( 800-343-9999; www.peterpanbus.com ) Travels to northeastern
US; uses a terminal just opposite Greyhound's.
WashNY (

) Has two
stops in the city.
TRAIN
Amtrak ( 800-872-7245; www.amtrak.com ) Set inside the magnificent beaux-arts Union
Station. Trains depart for nationwide destinations, including New York City (3½ hours),
Chicago (18 hours), Miami (24 hours) and Richmond, VA (three hours).
MARC (Maryland Rail Commuter; mta.maryland.gov ) This regional rail service for the Wash-
ington, DC-Baltimore metro area runs trains frequently to Baltimore ($7, 71 minutes)
and other Maryland towns (from $4 to $12); and to Harpers Ferry, WV ($15, 80
minutes).

TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
If you're using Baltimore/Washington International Airport, you can travel between
Union Station and the BWI terminal stop on either MARC ($7, 40 minutes) or Amtrak
