cented with the daily bric-a-brac of the American experience - synagogue shawls, protest
signs and cotton gins - plus an enormous display of the original Star-Spangled Banner

L'Enfant Plaza) The Museum of the American Indian, ensconced in honey-colored
sandstone, provides a good introduction to the indigenous people of the Americas, with
an array of costumes, video and audio recordings, and cultural artifacts. Exhibits are
largely organized and presented by individual tribes, which provides an extremely intim-
ate, if sometimes disjointed, overall narrative. Don't miss the regionally specialized

Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden MUSEUM

Sculpture Garden houses a huge collection of modern sculpture, which is rotated regu-
