The collections are particularly strong in the impressionists, with significant works by
Monet, Pissarro and Renoir. Mary Cassatt, Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent rep-
resent contemporary American painting.
Williams College Museum of Art MUSEUM

1-5pm Sun) This sister museum of the Clark Art Institute graces the center of town
and has an incredible collection of its own. Around half of its 13,000 pieces comprise the
American Collection, with substantial works by notables such as Edward Hopper (Morn-
ing in a City), Winslow Homer and Grant Wood, to name only a few.
MASS MoCA MUSEUM

museum, MASS MoCA sprawls across an amazing 222,000 sq ft and includes art con-
struction areas, performance centers and 19 galleries. One gallery is the size of a football
field, giving installation artists the opportunity to take things into a whole new dimen-
sion. Bring your walking shoes!
Mt Greylock State Reservation PARK

Just south of North Adams, this park has both a road and trails up to Massachusetts'
highest peak (3491ft), where there's a panoramic view of several mountain ranges and,
on a clear day, five different states. Among the park's 45 miles of hiking trails is a por-
tion of the Appalachian Trail. In addition, you'll find a rustic summit lodge.
Festivals & Events
Williamstown Theatre Festival THEATER

the theater world descend upon Williamstown every year. The festival mounts a mix of
classics and contemporary works by up-and-coming playwrights. Bradley Cooper and
Gwyneth Paltrow are just two of the well-known thespians who have performed here.
