Falmouth Heights Motor Lodge MOTEL$$$
( 508-548-3623; www.falmouthheightsresort.com ; 146 Falmouth Heights Rd; r incl breakfast
$129-259; ) Don't be fooled by the name. This tidy operation is no drive-up motor
lodge - it's not even on the highway. All 28 rooms are a cut above the competition. The
beach and Vineyard ferry are minutes away.
Clam Shack SEAFOOD$
( 508-540-7758; 227 Clinton Ave; light meals $6-15; 11:30am-7:30pm) A classic of the
genre, right on Falmouth Harbor. It's tiny, with picnic tables on the back deck and lots of
fried seafood. The clams, huge juicy bellies cooked to a perfect crisp, are the place to
start.
Maison Villatte CAFE$
( 774-255-1855; 267 Main St; snacks $3-10; 7am-7pm Wed-Sat, to 5pm Sun) A pair of
French bakers work the ovens, creating crusty artisan breads, flaky croissants and sinful
pastries at this bakery-cafe. Hearty sandwiches and robust coffee make it an ideal lunch
spot.

Water St) . You'll also gain insights into scientists' work at the WHOI Ocean Science Ex-
hibit Center (15 School St; 10am-4:30pm Mon-Sat) .
Woods Hole Science Aquarium ( http://aquarium.nefsc.noaa.gov ; 166 Water St; 11am-4pm
Tue-Sat; ) has little flash and dazzle, but you'll find unusual sea-life speci-
mens, local fish and the Homarus americanus(aka lobster). Kids will enjoy the
touch-tank creatures. Coolest time to come is at 11am or 4pm when the seals are
fed.
