Hostelling International (HI) Boston has a brand-new facility. The historic
Dill Building has been completely revamped to allow for expanded capacity and commu-
nity space, wheelchair access and - most impressively - state-of-the-art green amenities
and energy efficiency. What stays the same? The reliably comfortable accommodations
and excellent line-up of cultural activities that HI Boston has offered for the past three
decades.

We believe them when they say it's the friendliest hostel in Boston. But there are other
reasons to love this affable hostelry, such as the spic-and-span kitchen and the comfy
common area with the huge flatscreen TV. Sleeping six to 10 people each, dorm rooms
have painted brick walls, wide-plank wood floors and sturdy pine bunk beds.
Also: breakfast, bicycles and lots of free activities. What's not to love? Street noise.

True to its name, this homey guesthouse is a peace-
ful, pleasant oasis in the midst of Boston's chaotic city streets. Thirty-odd guest rooms
occupy four attractive, brick, bow-front town houses on this tree-lined lane. The modest,
light-filled rooms are tastefully and traditionally decorated, most with queen beds, floral
quilts and nondescript prints.

Housed in a respectfully renovated 19th-century warehouse, this waterfront hostelry
strikes just the right balance between historic digs and modern conveniences. Apparently,
