AVA Bar & Lounge CLUB

and most cutting-edge clubs in the city is ironically located in a generic strip in the East
Liberty neighborhood (near Shadyside). The same owner and vibe from the recently
closed Shadow Lounge, AVA has DJs and live hip-hop, jazz and other music.
Rex Theater LIVE MUSIC

verted movie theater, for touring jazz, rock and indie bands, as well as a venue for the
Moth Storyslam.
MCG Jazz LIVE MUSIC

jazz musicians are held at this venue on the north side of the city.
Club Café LIVE MUSIC

Pittsburgh Cultural Trust PERFORMING ARTS

Pittsburgh Dance Council and PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh to visual art and opera. Go to
the website for tickets to the Benedum Center, Byham Theater, Theater Square, Heinz
Hall and other venues.
Gist Street Readings PERFORMING ARTS
( www.giststreet.org ; 305 Gist St, 3rd fl; readings $10) Holds monthly readings from local and
well-known national literary figures. Best to get there when doors open at 7:15pm, since
turnout is typically large. Bring your own refreshments.
