just over the Smithfield St bridge, is Station Square ( 800-859-8959;
www.stationsquare.com ; Station Square Dr) , a group of beautiful, renovated railway buildings
that now houses a few restaurants, nightclubs and bars. About halfway between the two
inclines along the Monongahela River is Highmark Stadium , a new 3500 seat soccer sta-
dium. Grandview Ave, at the top of the Duquesne Incline, has several excellent restaur-
ants with romantic views including the five-star Le Mont.
Oakland & Around
The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University are here, and the surround-
ing streets are packed with cheap eateries, cafes, shops and student homes.
Carnegie Museums MUSEUM

of architecture, impressionist, postimpressionist and modern American paintings; and the
Carnegie Museum of Natural History features a complete Tyrannosaurus skeleton and
exhibits on Pennsylvania geology and Inuit prehistory.
Frick Art & Historical Center MUSEUM

tours $12; 10am-5pm Tue-Sun) East of Oakland, in Point Breeze, this museum
displays some of Henry Clay Frick's Flemish, French and Italian paintings; assorted
Frickmobiles like a 1914 Rolls Royce in the Car & Carriage Museum; more than 5 acres
of grounds and gardens; and Clayton, the restored 1872 Frick mansion. Bus 71 C from
downtown heads out this way.
Phipps Conservatory GARDENS

fully designed and curated gardens.
Cathedral of Learning TOWER
