tumbling as far as 500ft below into clear swimming pools. Robert Treman Park (
607-273-3440; 105 Enfield Falls Rd) , a few miles further out of town, has a gorge trail passing
a stunning 12 waterfalls in under 3 miles. The two biggies you don't want to miss are
Devil's Kitchen and Lucifer Falls. Eight miles north on Rte 89, the spectacular Taughan-
nock Falls spills 215ft into the steep gorge below; Taughannock Falls State Park (
607-387-6739; www.nysparks.com ; 2221 Taughannock Rd, Trumansburg) has two major hiking
trails, craggy gorges, tent-trailer sites and cabins.
A little further along on Rte 89 near the village of Interlaken is the Creamery (
11am-8pm) , a roadside eatery that in addition to conventional ice cream sundaes serves
buzz-inducing wine-infused sorbets. Just past here is Lucas Vineyards ( 607-532-4825;

wineries, and a little further north down by the lake shore is Sheldrake Point (

10am-5:30pm daily Apr-Dec) , which has lake views and award-winning whites.
The small, sleepy town of Seneca Falls is where the country's organized women's
rights movement was born. After being excluded from an anti-slavery meeting, Elizabeth
Cady Stanton and her friends drafted an 1848 declaration asserting that 'all men and wo-
men are created equal.' The inspirational Women's Rights National Historical Park (
315-568-2991; www.nps.gov/wori ; 136 Fall St; 9am-5pm) has a small but impressive
museum with an informative film, plus a visitor center offering tours of Cady Stanton's
house.
Seneca & Keuka Lakes
Geneva , at the northern tip of Seneca Lake, has an architecturally historic exterior and a
lively vibe with both Hobart and William Smith colleges calling it home. South Main St
is lined with an impressive number of immaculate turn-of-the-century homes. The re-
stored 1894 Smith Opera House ( 315-781-5483; www.thesmith.org ; 82 Seneca St, Geneva)
is the place to go for performing arts. Stop by Microclimate (38 Linden St, Geneva; 6pm-
midnight Mon, 4:30pm-1am Thu-Sun) , a cool little wine bar with wine flights where you can
compare locally produced varietals with their international counterparts.
Y-shaped Keuka Lake is surrounded by two small state parks that keep it relatively
pristine. One of its old canals has been converted into a rustic bike path and it's a favorite
lake for trout fishing. Just south of Penn Yan , the largest village on the lake's shores, you
come to Keuka Spring Vineyards (
