In general, the earlier you book, the lower the fare.

On Bolt Bus, Megabus and some of the smaller companies, the first tickets sold for a
route cost $1.

For lower fares on Greyhound, purchase tickets at least seven days in advance (pur-
chasing 14 days in advance will save even more).

If you're traveling with family or friends, Greyhound's companion fares let up to two ad-
ditional travelers get 50% off with a minimum three-day advance purchase.
Reservations
Greyhound and Bolt Bus tickets can be bought over the phone or online, as well as at ter-
minals. For Megabus, Go Bus and most of the smaller companies, tickets can only be
purchased online in advance. Seating is normally first-come, first-served. Greyhound re-
commends arriving an hour before departure to get a seat.
Car & Motorcycle
For maximum flexibility and convenience, and to explore outside of the cities, a car is es-
sential.
