TOP OF CHAPTER
St Paul
Smaller and quieter than its twin city Minneapolis, St Paul has retained more of a historic
character. Walk through F Scott Fitzgerald's old stomping grounds, trek the trails along
the mighty Mississippi River, or slurp some Lao soup.
Sights & Activities
Downtown and Cathedral Hill hold most of the action. The latter features eccentric
shops, Gilded Age Victorian mansions and, of course, the hulking church that gives the
area its name. Downtown has the museums. An insider's tip: there's a shortcut between
the two areas, a footpath that starts on the Hill House's west side and drops into down-
town.
Revitalized Harriet Island , running south off Wabasha St downtown, is a lovely place
to meander; it has a park, river walk, concert stages and fishing dock.
