Getting There & Around
General Mitchell International Airport (MKE; www.mitchellairport.com ) is 8 miles south of
downtown. Take public bus 80 ($2.25) or a cab ($30).
The Lake Express ferry ( 866-914-1010; www.lake-express.com ) sails from downtown
(the terminal is located a few miles south of the city center) to Muskegon, Michigan,
providing easy access to Michigan's beach-lined Gold Coast.
Greyhound ( 414-272-2156; 433 W St Paul Ave) runs frequent buses to Chicago (two
hours) and Minneapolis (seven hours). Badger Bus ( 414-276-7490; www.badgerbus.com ;
635 N James Lovell St) goes to Madison ($19, two hours). Megabus ( www.megabus.com/us ;
446 N 4th St) runs express to Chicago (two hours) and Minneapolis (six hours), often for
lower fares than Greyhound.
Amtrak ( 414-271-0840; www.amtrakhiawatha.com ; 433 W St Paul Ave) runs the Hiawatha
train seven times a day to/from Chicago ($24, 1½ hours); catch it downtown (it shares
the station with Greyhound) or at the airport.
The Milwaukee County Transit System ( www.ridemcts.com ; fare $2.25) provides the
local bus service. Bus 31 goes to Miller Brewery; bus 90 goes to Miller Park.
