The three attractions are separate, but you can get a combination ticket (adult/child
$35/25.50) for Henry Ford and Greenfield Village. Plan on at least one very full day at
the complex.
Dearborn has the nation's greatest concentration of people of Arab descent, so it's no
surprise that the Arab American National Museum ( 313-582-2266;

noon-5pm Sun) popped up here. It's a noble concept, located in a pretty, bright-tiled build-
ing, but it's not terribly exciting unless actor Jamie Farr's M*A*S*H TV-show script
wows you. The Arabian eateries lining nearby Warren Ave provide a more engaging feel
for the culture. Turquoise-roofed Hamido ( www.hamidorestaurant.com ; 13251 W Warren Ave;
mains $5-12; 11am-midnight) serves hummus, chicken shwarma and other staples. The
number of birds roasting on the spit show its popularity.
Ann Arbor
Forty-odd miles west of Detroit, liberal and bookish Ann Arbor is home to the University
of Michigan. The walkable downtown, which abuts the campus, is loaded with free-trade
coffee shops, bookstores and brewpubs. It's also a mecca for chowhounds; follow the
drool trail toward anything named 'Zingerman's.'
