Getting There & Around
Detroit Metro Airport (DTW; www.metroairport.com ) , a Delta Airlines hub, is about 20
miles southwest of Detroit. Transport options from the airport to the city are few: you
can take a cab for about $45; or there's the 125 SMART bus ($2), but it takes one to 1½
hours to get downtown.
Greyhound ( 313-961-8005; 1001 Howard St) runs to various cities in Michigan and
beyond. Megabus ( www.megabus.com/us ) runs to/from Chicago (5½ hours) daily; depar-
tures are from downtown (corner of Cass and Michigan) and Wayne State University
(corner of Cass and Warren Aves).
Amtrak ( 313-873-3442; 11 W Baltimore Ave) trains go three times daily to Chicago (5½
hours). You can also head east - to New York (16½ hours) or destinations en route - but
you'll first be bused to Toledo.
Transit Windsor ( 519-944-4111; www.citywindsor.ca/transitwindsor ) operates the Tun-
nel Bus to Windsor, Canada. It costs $4 (American or Canadian) and departs by Marin-
er's Church (corner of Randolph St and Jefferson Ave) near the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel
entrance, as well as other spots downtown. Bring your passport.
For taxi service, call Checker Cab (
