Drinking
The downtown action centers on the young, testosterone-fueled Warehouse District
(around W 6th St), and around E 4th St's entertainment venues. Tremont is also chockab-
lock with chic bars. Most places stay open until 2am.
Great Lakes Brewing Company BREWERY
( www.greatlakesbrewing.com ; 2516 Market Ave; from 11:30am Mon-Sat) Great Lakes wins
many prizes for its brewed-on-the-premises beers. Added historical bonus: Eliot Ness got
into a shootout with criminals here; ask the bartender to show you the bullet holes.
Market Garden Brewery BREWERY
( www.marketgardenbrewery.com ; 1947 W 25th St; 4pm-2am Mon-Thu, 11am-2am Fri & Sat,
10am-3pm Sun) Since launching in 2011 this microbrewer has made a splash with its
brown ale, though the other beers on tap are excellent, too. Sip indoors under the low-lit
chandeliers, or outdoors at the communal wood tables striping the beer garden. It also
distils small-batch whiskeys and rum, and shakes up beer cocktails.
Major Hoopples BAR
(1930 Columbus Rd; from 3pm Mon-Sat) Look over the bar for Cleveland's best skyline
view from this friendly, eclectic watering hole. Films and sports games are projected on
the bridge abutment out back.

music venues and cafes along Detroit Ave between W 56th and W 69th Sts, a few miles
west of downtown.
