and deservedly so. He serves multiple dog styles (Polish, bratwursts, Chicago) cooked
multiple dog ways (char-grilled, deep-fried, steamed). Confused? He'll explain it all.
Doug also makes gourmet 'haute dogs,' such as blue-cheese pork with cherry cream
sauce. It's sublime, which is why there's always a queue. Cash only.

Blue Line to Logan Sq) Hard to say whether this shabby-chic tavern is best for eating or
drinking. Let's say eating, since it earned a Michelin star for its beautifully cooked com-
fort foods like vanilla brioche French toast for breakfast, wild-boar sloppy joes for lunch
and maple-braised pork shank for dinner. There's a whole menu of juicy small plates,
too. Reservations not accepted.
Near West Side & Pilsen
The West Loop booms with hot-chef restaurants. Stroll along Randolph and Fulton Mar-
ket Sts and take your pick. Greektown extends along S Halsted St (take the Blue Line to
UIC-Halsted). The Mexican Pilsen enclave has loads of eateries around W 18th St.

18th) At this no-frills Pilsen meat hive, a man with a machete salutes you at the front
counter. He awaits your command to hack off pork pieces, and then wraps the thick
chunks with onion and cilantro in a fresh tortilla. Cash only.
