In-Depth Information
Pizza-lovers jump off the cable car for cornmeal-dusted, thin-crust pizza by the slice piled
with fresh ingredients, with a pint of Anchor Steam served by flirtatious pizza-slingers in
a cozy bar setting - all for just 10 bucks and a smile.

Scoma's
$$$
At the Wharf's longstanding top choice for seafood, waiters wear white dinner jackets,
signed photographs of forgotten celebrities adorn pine- paneled walls, and plate-glass win-
dows overlook busy docks. Hardly anything has changed here since the '60s, except the
prices. Expect classics like cioppino (fish stew) and lobster Thermidor - never ground-
breaking, always good - that taste better when someone else buys.

Swensen's
$
Bite into your ice-cream cone, and get instant brain-freeze and hit of nostalgia. Oooh-
ouch, that peppermint stick really takes you back, doesn't it? The 16oz root-beer floats are
the 1950s version of Prozac, but the classic hot fudge sundae is pure serotonin with
sprinkles on top.

Salty's Famous Fishwich
$
SANDWICHES
Despite the name, Fisherman's Wharf drives a hard seafood bargain - good luck finding
fish meals under $10. The exception is Salty's Famous Fishwich, a crispy slab of fried Pa-
cific cod smothered in tangy, cilantro-spiked coleslaw overflowing the bun. The $5
'halfwich' makes vacating the boardwalk picnic bench difficult, and $4 garlic fries could
keep munchies and vampires away for days.
