Golden Gate Bridge & the Marina
The waterfront neighborhood near Golden Gate Bridge has chic boutiques, out-
rageous theater and food trucks in a former army depot - but 120 years ago it
reeked with dirty laundry and drunken cows. Swanky Union St was once Cow
Hollow, where laundry was washed and cows munched mash from whiskey
stills. Today's spiffy Mex-Deco Marina was mostly built in the 1930s atop 1906
quake debris.
