Getting Around
Small, hilly San Francisco is walkable, with public transportation and occasional taxis or

Cable Cars
Frequent, slow and scenic, from 6am to 1am daily; joyride from Downtown to Chinatown,
North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf. Single rides cost $6; for frequent use, get a Muni
passport.
Muni Streetcar
Lines connect Downtown and SoMa with Golden Gate Park, the Mission and the Castro.
Historic F-line streetcars run from Fisherman's Wharf down Market St to the Castro. Fares
are $2.
Muni Bus
Reasonably fast, but schedules vary wildly by line; infrequent after 9pm. Fares are $2.
BART Subway
High-speed transit from Downtown to Civic Center, the Mission, Oakland/Berkeley, SFO
and Millbrae, where it connects with Caltrain. Fares run $1.75 to $8.25.
Taxi
Fares run about $2.75 per mile; meters start at $3.50.
