NOTABLE BUILDING
A grand lightwell illuminates San Francisco's favorite subjects. Downstairs, excellent lec-
tures cover topics from cooking to civil rights; upstairs are graphic novels galore, James C
Hormel Gay & Lesbian Center history exhibits and Skylight Gallery art shows. Check out
the 2nd-floor wallpaper made from the old card catalog - artists Ann Chamberlain and
Ann Hamilton plus 200 San Franciscans have added multilingual running commentary to
50,000 cards.

Glide Memorial United
Methodist Church
As the Glide gospel choir takes the stage, beaming in rainbow robes, everyone squeezes
closer to make room along the pew for latecomers - this diverse, 1500-plus congregation
is GLBT-friendly and warmly welcomes everyone. After Sunday celebrations, the pro-
gressive Methodist congregation keeps the inspiration coming, providing a million free
meals a year and housing for 52 formerly homeless families.
