Ferry Building
Slackers have the right idea at this transport hub turned
gourmet emporium, where no one's in a hurry to leave.
Boat traffic dwindled since the grand hall was built in
1898, so in 2003 the city converted the Ferry Building into
a monumental tribute to the Bay Area's innovative, sustain-
able food, garnished with California's most famous farmers
market. Further reasons to miss that ferry await indoors:
James Beard Award-winning restaurants, wine tasting, and
foodie boutiques to bring inspiration home.
