Plate 12.1 A wave-cut rock platform representing a higher
sea level of Ipswichian interglacial age (125 kyr old),
overlain by younger permafrost slope debris on the Gower
coast, South Wales. The platform is eroded across tilted
Carboniferous limestone (c. 325 Myr old) which forms a
major unconformity beneath the younger Pleistocene rocks.
