Getting Around
Bangkok's public transportation network is continually growing, but it is still only relat-
ively expansive, and getting to certain parts of the city - particularly the older areas - re-
mains extremely time-consuming. The best strategy is usually to combine a longer trip on
the BTS or MRT with a short taxi ride.
BTS
The elevated Skytrain (

) is probably the most efficient and convenient way to
get around central Bangkok.
MRT
Bangkok's metro (

) is also convenient, although not quite as expansive as
the BTS.
Taxi
Outside peak hours, Bangkok taxis are a great bargain.
Chao Phraya River Express

are a slow but steady way to visit the
tourist sights along the Chao Phraya River.
Klorng Boat
Bangkok's canal boats are generally more useful for commuters than visitors.
