This new kid on the block has made an audible splash on Bangkok's dining scene with its
unique retro-industrial ambience and an Aussie-feeling, internationally influenced menu.
Think meaty, seemingly deli-derived dishes such as wet roasted chicken, saffron and al-
mond broth, barley and harissa. Reservations recommended. (

In less than a year, and despite being run by a fa·ra ̀ ng (foreigner) from Pennsylvania, Soul
Food has shot to the top of the heap of cool places to eat Thai food in Bangkok. The secret
recipe? We reckon it's Soul Food's dual nature as both an inviting restaurant and a bar
serving boozy, Thai- influenced cocktails. (

Top Tip
Tipping
You shouldn't be surprised to learn that tipping in Thailand isn't as exact as it is in Europe (tip no one) or the
USA (tip everyone). Thailand falls somewhere in between, and some areas are left open to interpretation. Some
people leave roughly 10% at any sit-down restaurant where someone fills their glass every time they take a sip.
Others don't. Most upmarket restaurants will apply a 10% service charge to the bill. Some patrons leave extra on
top of the service charge; others don't. The choice is yours.
