For a glimpse of Bangkok without the touts, tourists
or malls (well, OK, there are some malls - this is,
after all, Bangkok), take the BTS north to the Vict-
ory Monument, where you'll find ordinary Thais do-
ing ordinary Thai things, not to mention a handful of worthwhile attractions,
good restaurants and fun bars.
