To provide the right insight into the proposed way of analysing foot bone le-
sions in X-ray images, an X-ray of a foot free of any lesions within it, which
represents the pattern defined in the UBIAS system, is shown below (Fig. 5.3.).

The example UBIAS system discussed in this chapter is used for the image
analysis of foot bone lesions in the dorsopalmar projection of the foot, including
the division of bones into tarsus, metatarsus and phalanx ones.
The grammatical graph formalism for the semantic analysis has been defined as
