enabling an accurate assessment of their numbers
and a more effective control. Comparable traps are
available against plum moth, pea moth, leek moth and
raspberry beetle.
Risks : none.
Rodent traps containing anticoagulant baits such as
difenacoum are available. More recently, rat or mouse
traps using a high-voltage charge are being used.
Risks : great care is needed to avoid access to such
bait chemicals in the trap or in the store by children
and pets.
Glue bands (Figure 16.2b) wrapped around an apple
or pear trunk prevents the flightless winter moth
female from crawling from the soil to lay her eggs.
An adhesive copper tape may be placed around a
pot to prevent slugs reaching plants such as Hostas
