The four main sculptural groups in clockwise order: Le Départ, Le Triomphe, La Résist-
ance, and La Paix
The Arch is 45 meters tall and a main tourist spot in Paris. The ground level of the arch can
be visited for free. To access the top, you have to climb many steps, or take the elevator to
the mid-level and climb another 64 stairs to the top.
Children can access the mid and top floor for free; adults have to buy a ticket.
The names of all French victories and generals are inscribed on the Arch's inner and out-
er surfaces
We recommend you visit the Arch after 6:30 p.m., when the eternal flame of the Unknown
Soldier from World War I is rekindled every night by veterans who lay fresh wreaths and
the Champs-Elysées is bathed in shimmering lights. You can take a breathtaking view of
the Eifel Tower and the Sacre Coeur from the observation deck.
